IDXChannel - The Ministry of Industry expects car production to reach 1.6 million units in 2023 amid rising global uncertainties. Head of the Sub-directorate of Land Transportation Equipment Industry Dodiet Prasetyo said that this year's target increased slightly compared to 2022.
Last year, car production reached approximately 1.5 million units. Out of 1.5 million cars, 400,000 units were exported, especially to ASEAN region.
“Indonesia’s automotive production has reached around 1.5 million units,” Dodiet said.
According to Dodiet, the government is always encouraging the industry to increase its exports. The government expects the number of exported cars reaches more than 400,000 units this year.
Meanwhile based on the Regulation of the Minister of Industry Number 6 of 2022, the government wants to produce as many as 400,000 units of electric cars in 2025. The number is projected to increase to one million units in 2035.
Under the same regulation, the production of electric motorbikes is expected to reach six million units in 2025 and 12 million units by 2035.
