IDXChannel – President Joko Widodo believes Indonesia will become a country that leads the electric vehicle battery industry. This is considering that Indonesia has natural resources that support building an integrated electric vehicle battery industry ecosystem.
He said, Indonesia has natural wealth ranging from nickel copper bauxite to tin wich is the rawa material for making electric vehicle batteries. In addition to efforts to compliment raw materials, what needs to be improved will be intergrating raw material available in indoensia, to build a large ecosystem for the electric vehicle battery industry.
According to him, so far natural resource projects have not been intergrated from upstream to downstream.
“What we will build in the future is a large ecosystem, not small projects. Oh, here is a project in Morowali, here is a project in Batang, isn't that. What we want to build is a large ecosystem. For example, the EV battery ecosystem for electric cars and electric motorcycles. What don't we have? To get there we have nickel, copper, bauxite, tin, what we don't have is lithium. What we dont have is lithium,” he Said.
