IDXChannel - Indonesian Ambassador to United Arab Emirates (UAE) Husin Bagis joined the 7th Abu Dhabi Dialogue (ADD) in Dubai on 10-11 February.
The two-day forum aims to strengthen collective efforts to enhance the skills, welfare, and protection of migrant workers in Asia.
"Indonesia appreciates the progress made in policies related to migrant workers by both sending and receiving countries within the ADD framework, including the active role of international organisations that have provided many positive inputs in efforts to enhance comprehensive cooperation among member countries," said Ambassador Bagis in a media release.
During the forum, Ambassador Bagis underlined Indonesia's commitment to protecting migrant workers, enhancing skills and welfare, and being ready to collaborate with ADD member countries in addressing common challenges in the future, especially regarding migrant worker issues.
The 7th ADD focused on three main themes to advance cooperation and address common challenges in the future: the use of technology in managing the labour market, especially in efforts to improve the welfare of migrant workers through technological utilisation; facilitating skills mobility of workers in sending and receiving countries to ease adaptation in addressing future challenges; and supporting gender equality in recruitment policies in various fields, both in sending and receiving countries, to create an equal and inclusive labour market. This initiative is crucial to overcoming existing barriers and biases, unlocking the full potential of the workforce, and contributing to broader socio-economic development goals.
