IDXChannel - Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono met with his Brazilian counterpart, Mauro Vieira, in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday (27/4/2025).
Sugiono visited Brazil to attend the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting (FMM). The event held in Rio de Janeiro on 28-29 April 2028.
Indonesia formally joined BRICS as a full member in January 2025. It became the first Southeast Asian nation to join the group.
"Appreciate Brazil's support for Indonesia's full-fledged membership in BRICS," Sugiono said on X today, Monday (28/4/2025).
During the meeting, the two ministers discussed ways to foster the Indonesia-Brazil Strategic Partnership on food security, energy, education, and health.
"We also reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening developing countries' role in advancing multilateralism," he added.
Brazil is holding the BRICS rotating presidency this year. The BRICS Summit will take place in Rio de Janeiro in July 2025. (Wahyu Dwi Anggoro)
