BRICS is a cooperation forum formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa to discuss current global issues. At the beginning of 2024, several other countries, namely the UAE, Iran, Egypt, and Ethiopia, have joined, bringing its membership to nine countries.
The BRICS summit with developing countries carries the theme BRICS and Global South: Joint Building of a Better World. The Russian presidency has invited BRICS member countries, non-BRICS member countries, and international organizations such as the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and Eurasian Economic Commission. (EEC).
In recent years, Indonesia has been invited to the BRICS forum. This year, Indonesia has been invited again to attend the BRICS Plus meeting.
