IDXChannel - New United States (US) Ambassador to Indonesia, Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir, presented her credentials to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in an official ceremony at Istana Merdeka in Jakarta on Thursday (8/8/2024).
“It was an honor to present my credentials to the President, and it is a privilege to return to Indonesia during the 75th anniversary of the US.-Indonesia relationship and the first full year of our newly elevated Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,” said Ambassador Lakhdhir in a written statement.
"As we enter this era of greater cooperation, I look forward to further strengthening ties rooted in shared values and working together to advance stability and prosperity," she said.
Ambassador Lakhdhir arrived in Jakarta in July 2024. She was nominated to be the US Ambassador to of Indonesia in October 2023 and confirmed by the Senate in May 2024.
A career Foreign Service Officer, Ambassador Lakhdhir has served in the Department of State for almost 33 years. She previously served at the US Embassy in Indonesia from 1994 to 1996.
