IDXChannel - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan has attended a high-level meeting between Indonesia and South Korea.
During the meeting, Luhut talked with South Korean Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Choo Kyung-Ho. The two ministers discussed about investments from South Korea in Indonesia and cooperation opportunities.
"Happy and enthusiastic. That's the description of my trip to South Korea for the next few days, happy because the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Korea will be commemorated," Luhut said on his Instagram account @luhut.pandjaitan on Thursday (23/3/ 2023).
According to Luhut, Indonesia and South Korea are mutually beneficial business partners. The two countries complement each other.
Indonesia's abundant natural wealth and large market share for electric vehicles are the future for the development of the EV industry and its supporting ecosystem.
"Korea’s investment in building the entire EV production chain in Indonesia will be a very promising business opportunity in the future," he said.
During the meeting, Luhut conveyed various issues such as ease of travel for tourists, especially the possible implementation of a visa on arrival policy for Indonesian citizens. Previously, Japan approved a visa on arrival policy for Indonesian tourists.
"I express my appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Choo and the Korean government for giving their time today, and are committed to ensuring that Korean investment in Indonesia goes according to schedule," he said.
