IDXCahnnel - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially launched the Indonesia Carbon Exchange (IDXCarbon). The launch event was held at the Main Hall of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in jakarta on Tuesday (26/9/2023).
"I launch the Indonesia Carbon Exchange (IDXCarbon) today," Jokowi said in his speech.
Jokowi also congratulated the Financial Services Authority (OJK), IDX, and related ministries on the launch of the first Carbon Exchange in Indonesia. IDXCarbon is expected to boost carbon trading in Indonesia.
"This is Indonesia's real contribution to the fight against climate change," he stated.
"It will help protect the environment, especially through reducing carbon emissions," he added.
The carbon exchange will be managed by IDX and monitored by OJK. Carbon units will be traded in the form of Technical Approvals for Upper Emission Limits for Business Actors (PTBAE-PU) and Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Certificates (SPE-GRK). (WHY)
