IDXChannel - Indonesia has welcomed the delegation from the Bureau of United Nations (UN) Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP) in Jakarta on 3-5 July.
The aim of the visit is to gather insights from Indonesian stakeholders regarding the issue of Palestine and strengthen commitment and support for the fulfilment of Palestinians' rights.
“This visit reflects the United Nations' trust given to Indonesia to serve as host of the delegations visit and as part of Indonesia's active participation in the Bureau," said the Deputy Minister for Multilateral Cooperation at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affais , Ambassador Tri Tharyat, during a media briefing in Jakarta on Thursday (4/7/2024).
The delegation will meet the vice president, minister of foreign affairs, minister of defense, parliament members, and permanent representatives of ASEAN countries in Jakarta, as well as representatives from the business sector and civil society.
The series of meetings will discuss ways to bolster support for the Palestinian people. Indonesia consistently emphasizes its call for a permanent ceasefire and the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, encouraging full membership for Palestine in the UN which can open the door to a political resolution based on a two-state solution.
