IDXChannel - ASEAN's economic growth has shown positive results in recent years. However, Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto believes this growth is still not immune to the current global challenges.
He invited all ASEAN ministers who attended the 22nd ASEAN Economic Community Council Meeting to act together to ensure that the ASEAN region continues to develop a sustainable and inclusive growth.
"ASEAN is indeed trying to be adaptive and agile, but we must realize that this growth is not immune to the challenges of the current global environment," said Airlangga when opening the forum in Jakarta on Sunday (7/5/ 2023).
The event discussed several significant challenges in the region, including rising geopolitical tensions, climate change impacts, supply chain disruptions, and food and energy crises.
According to Airlangga, discussions need to be carried out to make the ASEAN Economic Community more relevant and effective in the future.
