IDXChannel - Australia's Assistant Minister for Trade and Manufacturing Tim Ayres is set to visit Indonesia this week to strenghten economic ties between the two countries.

"I will travel to Indonesia to reinforce our commitment to strengthening trade and investment with one of our closest neighbours," he said in a statement on Wednesday (24/1/2024).

Indonesia is home to more than 270 million people and is on track to be one of the world’s largest economies by 2040.

"Australia is well positioned to be part of this growth," he added.

"Following the launch of the Albanese Labor Government’s landmark report Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040, I will be meeting with a range of Indonesian ministers, as well as the Indonesia Investment Authority to discuss ways to unlock economic opportunities for our two countries and the region," he explained.

While in Jakarta, he will also address the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia on the potential for the Australia-Indonesia relationship.
