IDXChannel - Bank of Indonesia highlighted Synergy from downstream to upstream sectors as the key to ensuring national food resilience. The Central Bank stated collaborations and Innovations should be conducted comprehensively.
Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia Aida Budiman urged everyone to partake in efforts to ensure national food resilience. The issue is becoming more urgent in the midst of various challenges such as extreme weather.
“We need to do it end to end from downstream to upstream. Upstream, we need to ensure the production process. During the harvest period, we need to manage and market the food.
“If it is not done, the classic problem in the food sector is, during the harvest period, the prices falll because of rising supplies, while outside the harvest period, the products are unavailable so the prices are up. The distribution is also uneven,” she explained.
Synergy is also crucial in maintaining food commodity prices. Affordable price are needed so that that people can buy food products thereby concurrently ensuring the welfare of farmers.
