IDXChannel - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy revealed the government must create at least 3.6 million new jobs every year.
To achieve that target, Muhadjir stated, the government cannot continue to rely on the industrysector.
“This is because the industry sector in Indonesia is different from that in other countries. In Germany, the labor force cycle has stabilized. The new labor force can immediately replace retired workers because their industry sector is large. While the number of industries in Indonesia is still small," said Muhadjir on the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower's YouTube channel, Monday (1/5/2023).
Muhadjir said the government had also worked optimally to reduce the unemployment rate. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in August 2022 was 5.86 percent, down by 0.63 percentage point compared to August 2021.
Apart from the rising number of training programs, this decrease was also driven by investment and industrial downstream policies in Indonesia.
