IDXChannel - Indonesia and Saudi Arabia have officially signed an operational agreement for the Hajj season this year.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, and the Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Tawfiq F. Al-Rabiah, in Jeddah on Sunday (12/1/2025).
Under this agreement, Indonesia’s Hajj quota has been set at 221 thousand pilgrims. The departure and return of the pilgrims will be facilitated through two airports: Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Airport in Madinah and King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.
Additionally, Indonesia has been allocated a quota of Hajj officers amounting to 1 percent of the total number of pilgrims. The Indonesian government continues to negotiate with the Saudi government to secure an increased quota for Hajj officers to enhance service quality.
"The MoU also outlines various security regulations, including a ban on political propaganda, the use of disruptive photographic equipment, and specific movement protocols during the peak days of Hajj at Arafat, Muzdalifah, and Mina," the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah said in a media release.
