IDXChannel - The Indonesian government conveyed its condolences to the victims of a magnitude 7.6 earthquake that struck Japan on New Year's Day.
"Indonesia is deeply saddened by the devastating earthquakes in Ishikawa Prefecture and the surrounding Hokuriku region of Japan," the Indonesian Foreign Ministry stated on X.
Indonesia stands in solidarity with the people of Japan, and we sincerely wish all who have been affected by this natural disaster a speedy and full recovery," the Ministry stated.
The earthquake was strongly felt in Ishikawa, Niigata, Toyama, and Fukui Prefectures. It caused tsunami waves in some areas.
According to records of the self-reporting system of the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, 1,315 Indonesians currently live in Ishikawa Prefecture.
