IDXChannel - Vice President of Indonesia, Ma'ruf Amin said that the government is reviewing the rules for banning e-cigarettes or vapes in Indonesia.

However, this will only happen if the government finds the dangers of this type of cigarette that threaten public health.

"I think (the ban on e-cigarettes) will be studied, yes, but what is certain is that if something is dangerous it must be banned by the government, that's for sure," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin at the University of Indonesia campus, Jakarta, Thursday (26/1/2023).

The government is currently planning to revise Government Regulation Number 109 of 2012 concerning The Safety of Materials Containing Addictive Substances in the form of Tobacco Products for Health.

The plan was also approved by President Joko Widodo on December 23, 2022, through Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 25 of 2022 concerning the 2023 Government Regulation Drafting Program.
