IDXChannel - State-owned oil and gas company Pertamina announced its support for the Zero Routine Flaring (ZRF) Initiative, launched by the World Bank, as part of the company's efforts to support the sustainable energy transition at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
"This commitment is Pertamina's real step in reducing emissions and contributing to global efforts to reduce the impact of climate change," President Director of PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) Zulfi Hadi said in a statement from Pertamina received here.
Pertamina is the only Indonesian company supporting the ZRF Initiative, highlighting its strong commitment to achieving Net Zero Emissions (NZE) by 2060, or even sooner.
Hadi explained that the ZRF Initiative seeks to secure commitments from governments and global oil and gas companies to end routine flaring by 2030. This goal will be pursued through regulatory changes, technology innovation, and financial cooperation.
He emphasized that while the company recognizes the importance of meeting the growing demand for energy to support economic growth, it remains committed to doing so in an environmentally responsible way.
