Indonesia is exploring cooperation in the trade sector with Malaysia, expecially collaborations in border areas between the two countries.

For information, in the January-March 2023 period, total trade between Indonesia and Malaysia was recorded at USD 6.15 billion, down 4.57 percent compared to the same period last year. In this period, Indonesia's exports to Malaysia were recorded at USD 3.32 billion, while Indonesia's imports from Malaysia reached USD 2.82 billion.

Meanwhile in 2022, total trade between the two countries was recorded at USD27.93 billion. Indonesia's exports to Malaysia were recorded at USD 15.45 billion, while Indonesia's imports from Malaysia were recorded at USD 12.48 billion. As a result, Indonesia enjoyed a surplus of USD2.98 billion. (WHY)
