IDXChannel - Indonesia has concluded its successful participation in the Feria Internacional de Turismo (FITUR) with a strong commitment from 6,600 Spanish-speaking tourists. This figure represents 2.64 percent of the total FITUR visitors, indicating an increase from the previous year.
The projected potential transactions at the Indonesian booth reached EUR2.725 million, creating optimism for the Indonesian Embassy in Madrid regarding an increase in Spanish tourist visits to Indonesia in 2024.
"I am very pleased to participate in FITUR 2024 with Indonesia. Visitors asked a lot about group travel packages, especially to Bali. But we tried to convince them to also visit Sumatra or Kalimantan to see orangutans, or go to Komodo Island, Lake Toba, and Raja Ampat because Indonesia is more than just Bali," said Manfred Schweizer, CEO of Asia Bespoke Travel & Tours, in a media release.
Indonesia's participation in FITUR 2024 is a strategy to capitalise on the recovery of Spanish tourists' interest in travelling abroad and to revitalise Indonesia's tourism sector after the COVID-19 pandemic. The Indonesian Embassy in Madrid seized the momentum of Indonesia's selection as a member of the UN Tourism Executive Council, representing the East Asia and Pacific regional commission for 2023-2027.
The Indonesian Embassy in Madrid collaborated with ten tourism businesses to introduce various destinations in Indonesia to visitors. The Indonesian booth, located on the main corridor of Pavilion 6D along with Asia Pacific, South Asia, and Middle East countries, became the centre of attention.
